Show #12 (Longing for Summer)
Hello.
It’s been a dry winter in Portugal, this year, with mild weather and sunny days. With temperatures close to or even higher than 20ยบ Celsius, the fields already full of flowers, the returned swallows and storks flying and mating in the skies and the bright and sunny days, it just feels like spring time. However, the nights are still cold and long and we can’t put out the warm clothes yet. I miss the long and warm Summer days, miss being able to wear just a t-shirt and shorts, miss smelling the beach in the morning and swim in the ocean as the sun sets. Hence, this show is dedicated to Summer, featuring some songs that I associate with that time of the year.
Let’s begin listening to The Beatles playing Here Comes the Sun, a promise of better days.
Now a real Summer classic, Don’t Worry Baby by the Beach Boys.
And what’s Summer without reggae? Here’s a classic of the eighties, a cover of the Sonny and Cher hit I Got You Babe, by UB40 with Chrissie Hynde.
Finally, the masters of reggae, Bob Marley & The Wailers, playing Three Little Birds.
And that’s all. Still longing for Summer, I wish you a nice week and hope to be with you next Sunday for another Not a podcast show.
