Show #50 (More covers)
Hello. I was having some difficulty finding a theme for this week’s show, so I got back to one of my favourites — covers
Unfortunately, that got me another problem, choose four songs from my covers list, a problem I couldn’t find a solution to. So, as I couldn’t really decide on the songs to leave out, this will be a long show with six, instead of the costumary four, videos of some covers I got reserved for a rainy day like today (actually, it was a nice sunny day, here at Quinta do Conde, albeit a bit cold).
The first song is a well known cover of a Danny Whitten song, that was a big hit by Rod Stweart, back in the seventies. But that’s not the cover that I’m bringing here — this actual cover was itself a hit more than ten years later and one of the songs that marked my young adulthood. Here it is, Everything But The Girl playing I Don’t Want To Talk About It.
Next, a cover of a song that must have been covered a hundred times — Ben E. King’s Stand by Me, here by John Lennon.
I love Joy Division and I love The Cure, so this is a bit strange: Love Will Tear Us Apart, composed by the former and played by the latter.
Tegan and Sara have recently been added to my list of preferred bands. The next song is a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s Dancing In The Dark, another big hit of the eighties.
Cowboy Junkies, on the other hand, have long been on my top of favourite bands. The next video features a version of the classic Blue Moon.
Finally, the last song is a cover by Cat Power of an Oasis song, Wonderwall.
This is it, for today. Next week, I hope, there will be another show.

Cool choices! I really like the “Wonderwall” cover. And I’m of course delighted to see that you’re still listening to Tegan & Sara.
Maybe for your next cover show you might want to add these:

And this fantastic cover of “Love Song” by The Cure, covered by Tori Amos:

Just a suggestion.
