Hello.  Yesterday I spent a big part of my day driving (well… actually around four hours and a half) and, like I usually do, I turned on the radio to have some company and background activity so that I don’t fall asleep.  Of course, if you don’t want to spend the trip tuning the radio — which is a risk, please shouldn’t do it! — you must tune it to a national radio station and take advantage of RDS Alternative Frequency facility to keep listening to the same station all the way long. Yeah, I know I could use the cassette player (yes, I have an old radio) and listen to pre-recorded music… but what would be the fun on that?

If I have the chance I always prefer radio to recorded music and one of the reasons is that we can be surprised and listen to something we don’t know or haven’t listened for a long time.  In Portugal, if the chosen station is one the nationals, as it has to be when you’re travelling through the country, there’s an extra advantage: I get to listen to all those commercial music I rarely do.  Yesterday was not an exception and, to prove it, today’s show will have four of the songs I sang along during the trip

Hello. Well, I returned last Thursday from The Netherlands and I am having a somewhat hard time readjusting to the Portuguese rhythm of life. That is why I am posting this on Monday instead of Sunday as I should have done. One more show from The Netherlands, one more show prepared in a hurry. This is another of my discoveries shows, this time about another artist I found while browsing YouTube searching for videos for this blog. The first time I heard Cat Power I was immediately drawn to her voice and the simplicity and nakedness of her music. That’s the kind of sound that always makes me pay attention, maybe because it makes it easier to notice the feelings of the artists and their pleasure in playing.

Hello. I don’t know much about classical american music, but these I know. It’s four songs that always make me dream and, because I’m a little homesick and blue and miss my family and all that, I feel it’s the kind of show that reflects the way I feel right now.
